Zurich appoints New Zealand General Manager


SYDNEY, Australia – Zurich Financial Services Australia (Zurich) today announced the appointment of Adrian Sweeney to the position of General Manager for New Zealand.

Mr Sweeney brings extensive international insurance and governance experience to the role, including most recently as Underwriting Manager for Delta Insurance New Zealand.

Zurich New Zealand specialises in General Insurance underwriting, risk management, servicing, technical support and claims management, with insurance products spanning small business, motor, marine, liability, financial lines and property.

Alex Morgan, Head of General Insurance, Zurich Australia & New Zealand said: “Mr Sweeney brings a strong breadth of global experience, paired with technical and leadership capability, which will be key to driving Zurich New Zealand’s continued delivery of quality products and services for its customers.”

Mr Sweeney has close to 40 years of insurance experience, holding Chief Underwriting Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Risk Officer positions at numerous insurers globally, including RSA Insurance, Zurich Asia Pacific, Zurich North America and Zurich Commercial Insurance.

Mr Sweeney said: “Zurich New Zealand has a long-standing reputation for driving positive outcomes for its local customers and the community. I am delighted to be joining the team and look forward to further advancing Zurich’s position in the New Zealand market.” 

Mr Sweeney will commence in the role on 1 February 2024.
